Engineering Scholarship
Carthage awards one full-tuition-per-year, renewable, Engineering Scholarship to an incoming student. The Engineering Scholarship is awarded yearly to a student who most exemplifies the values of the Engineering Department: community, curiosity, ingenuity, integrity, sustainability, and tenacity. This scholarship is renewable for four years.

Engineering at Carthage is focused on learning how to design, analyze, and test devices and processes that solve human problems. Students learn through real projects partnered with real stakeholders to address real needs of our community. Our programs incorporate early design and project experiences to provide real-world contexts and early authentic practice to promote the development of skills employers seek.

Engineering Scholars Day
Engineering Scholars Day takes place Saturday, December 9, 2023,in December at the Carthage campus. Participation in Engineering Scholars Day is a requirement for consideration for the Engineering Scholarship.
Students participating in the Engineering Scholars Day will engage in small group-based engineering activities designed around the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Activities will expose participants to the teaching methods and approaches central to Carthage’s Engineering Department. Participants will reflect on their experiences as they relate to the values of engineering at Carthage. Participation, reflection, prior academic performance, and exemplification of the Engineering Department values will be considered in awarding the Engineering Scholarship.
All students who attend the Engineering Scholars Day will receive a $250 engineering grant ($1,000 over four years) as part of their financial aid award.
How to Apply
Candidates interested in the Engineering Scholarship Program must complete the following no later than November 17, 2023.no later than mid-November.
- Submit an application for admission to Carthage and supporting materials (high school transcripts).
- Submit the Engineering Scholarship Application (available in September 2024; join our mailing list to receive updates).
- Submit a 250-word essay: Why do you want to be an engineer? (This is part of the online scholarship application.)
To apply for the Engineering Scholarship, candidates must intend to major in engineering.
The Engineering Scholarship will incorporate all Carthage assistance. Scholarships and grants may be combined with federal and state grants, not to exceed full tuition. Carthage also offers additional scholarships. See our scholarship page for details.
